Hiring is planned to start in January 2026 in preparation for the construction of the polar icebreaker.

As a Welder–Fitter, you will perform electric arc welding, layout, cutting, forming, and assembly of metal parts according to drawings and specifications. You will set up and maintain equipment, and replace electrode wires as needed. You will carry out leak tests, apply joints, and work with patterns and jigs. You will operate profiling machines and handle the fitting, alignment, and straightening of metal components, while meeting all quality standards. <

Compensation

  • $33.41/hour for the first 1,000 hours, then $37.11/hour.
  • Overtime paid at double time.

Work Schedule

  • Day: 4-day workweek, 10 hours per day.
  • Evening: 4-day workweek, 10 hours per day + $2.00/hour premium.
  • Weekend: 3-day workweek, 12 hours per day (paid for 40 hours) + $2.50/hour premium.
  • Frigate premium (military vessel): $1.25/hour regardless of shift.

You must be available for all shifts. While we consider your schedule preferences (day, evening, weekend) when creating schedules, they cannot be guaranteed.

Requirements

To maintain the quality of our operations, you must have one of the following qualifications:

  • DEP in Welding and Fitting OR
  • Experience in welding;
  • CWB FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) certification is an asset;
  • Successful completion of the security clearance process required under the Federal Government Contract Security Program (minimum 5 years of continuous residence in Canada with no interruption longer than 6 consecutive months).
